The Holi Edition design is in celebration of one of the biggest cultural festivals in the world, Holi. Holi occurs on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month, falling on March 2 this year.
ABOUT THE HOLI DESIGN
Holi marks the beginning of spring (Northern Hemisphere) and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Also known as the festival of colour, Holi is primarily observed in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan but has spread across the world in celebration of love and equality.
The throwing of colourful powder originates from the Hindu legend of Radha and Krishna. Krishna who has blue skin loves a women of fair skin by the name of Radha. The difference in skin colour makes Krishna uneasy to which his mother suggest painting Radha with colour to eliminate the difference in skin tone.
Holi also celebrates equality, during Holi the notion of cast and creed is put aside and the young, old, rich and poor come together to celebrate this festival as brothers and sisters. At the end of the festival we all come out looking the same, covered in colour.
